ELECTRIC CABLES: CHOICE OF PROTECTIONS

The theme of the technical meeting concerns the protection of cables. The protection to be discussed is both mechanical and electrical (overcurrents and short circuits).
Cables are to the electrical system what the circulatory system is to the human body.
User devices, which are objects that transform electrical energy into another form of energy (such as light or mechanical energy), would be lifeless and useless without cables.
If cables are so important, then their selection must be made with care.
Cables, as known, can come in various types: single-core cables with or without sheathing, multi-core cables, flame-retardant cables, fire-resistant cables, cables resistant to low temperatures, and more.
The type of insulation also has its variations: thermoplastic polyethylene-based compound, ethylene-propylene rubber-based compound, low-smoke and low-toxicity cross-linked elastomeric compound, mineral insulation, polyvinyl chloride-based compound, and much more.
